What is reflective vinyl?

Reflective vinyl is a specialty material designed to reflect light when illuminated (such as from flash or headlights). It gives our designs their unique look but requires a bit more care than standard prints.

Is reflective vinyl delicate?

Yes. Reflective vinyl is more delicate than regular screen prints or ink-based designs. While it’s durable when cared for properly, it can crease, crack, or lift if mishandled, folded tightly, or exposed to excessive heat.

How do I care for garments with reflective vinyl?

To keep your piece looking its best:

  • Turn the garment inside out before washing
  • Wash cold on a gentle cycle
  • Do not tumble dry — air dry only
  • Do not iron directly on the design
  • Avoid dry cleaning

Proper care will help extend the life of the reflective vinyl.

Why is my design creased?

Reflective vinyl naturally creases more easily than traditional prints, especially during shipping or if the garment has been folded for a period of time. This is normal and not considered a defect.

How can I remove or reduce creases in the design?

Creases can usually be improved with gentle methods:

  • Hang the garment unfolded for a day or two
  • Hang it in the bathroom while taking a hot shower — the steam helps relax the vinyl
  • Lightly steam from a distance (do not press directly with an iron)

Never apply direct high heat to the vinyl, as this can cause damage.

Can I iron my garment?

You can iron the garment inside out on a low heat setting, but never iron directly on the reflective design. Direct heat can melt or warp the vinyl.

Will the reflective effect fade over time?

With proper care, the reflective effect should last a long time. However, repeated improper washing, drying, or heat exposure can reduce reflectivity or cause wear.
